A total of $93,094 was raised during the 2017 Preemie Cup events held to benefit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at The Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart. The NICU provides care to more than 1,000 premature, sick and injured infants from throughout Northwest Florida.
This year’s “Day of Play on the Water” will have a tremendous impact on these babies and their families as proceeds will be used to construct all private rooms in the new 72-bed Level II and Level III NICUs in the new Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart, which is scheduled for completion in 2019.
Events included a pre-party and silent auction at The Lee House in Pensacola, a regatta on Pensacola Bay with an awards ceremony at the Pensacola Yacht Club, relay-style paddleboard competition starting at Horizon Beach Service Dock on Little Sabine Bay and a fishing tournament with weigh-ins held at Pensacola Beach Yacht Club.
The 2017 Preemie Cup events were presented by Pediatrix Medical Group and Wind Creek Atmore.
